The Choose Well campaign launched on 6th December 2012 and focuses on providing patients with all of the information they need to choose the right care.
The resources include a new website with over 40 pages in 64 languages covering a range of topics from registering with a GP and finding an NHS dentist to what to do when your child has a fever and how to help someone having a seizure.
The site gives clear, easy-to-follow clinical advice on what illnesses and injuries can be safely cared for at home, which symptoms need to be seen by a GP and what ‘red flags’ to watch out for that mean it’s time to call 999 and head to A&E.
The site includes a full range of downloadable colour leaflets and 17 short animated films on key topics, voiced in English and the top ten Languages spoken in Manchester. The site is designed to work just as well on a smartphone or tablet as it does on a desktop and includes things like a ‘find my nearest…’ search for services, NHS Direct online symptom checkers and a pharmacy services page that can be filtered by area and service, so you can find the nearest pharmacy that has the service you need.
